A very straight forward title. I'm just being honest.
I sold out and bought more French vanilla coffee-mate. I get tired of being super strict about being careful what I eat. I will still try to eat healthy, natural stuff; not necessarily organic, but good enough. I figure this body isn't my eternal body anyway, so why worry so much? That's one thing I don't understand about the health/wealth/prosperity teachers. It really doesn't interest me to be honest and Joseph Prince can irritate me when he talks about those things. It gives the Gospel of grace a bad name if you ask me. It's such a shame, because he has received great revelations of Jesus, but hinders himself by buying into the prosperity nonsense. I don't want to speak against Joseph, but I will speak against the prosperity teaching. It's just a waste of time because our true citizenship is in heaven with our Lord Jesus.
Anyway, as I was saying, the health/wealth/prosperity stuff doesn't interest me simply because this body of mine isn't eternal. I am called to look for a, "New heavens and new earth in which righteousness dwells. " Again, I'm not saying it's bad to have good health and to be wise about what you put in your body and how you treat it, but let's get over worrying so much about this age and look forward to the one that is coming.

More French vanilla coffee-mate?
LOL!
Matthew, We both are in agreement on this issue of health/wealth stuff going on in Christendom. It's unfortunate. You won't believe the number of people living in disappointment and disillusionment since they didn't get what they were promised in the name of Jesus. It grieves me (that was the reason for my new post). Another thing, as you said, when people who have a great understanding of God's grace and teach the same and then mix it with material prosperity. That saddens me more than the 'regular' prosperity teachings...
Thank you for speaking truth!
I don't necessarily agree with you, but I don't totally disagree with you. The truth is, Jesus cared about these bodies, he went around healing people all the time. The truth is, he cared about people being hungry, he multiplied loaves and fishes. He even supplied his disciples with tax money out of a fish's mouth, and he gave them so much fish in their net another time that their boat started sinking. That fish was $$ to them, it was how they made their living. God loves to shower us with blessings.
Now the whole prosperity teaching (which I agree JP goes a little far with at times) that I have a problem with is that God will necessarily make everyone filthy rich, or that he is in some way obligated to do so based on our 'faith' (which I don't think JP believes but is in the word of faith crowd). But he does promise to supply all our needs according to his riches in glory.
Matthew, you might not like to think about it, but your daddy is rich, rich, rich! And that will affect your life! He's not going to let you go without, and sometimes he will even spoil you a little. That's because he loves you, you are his favorite son (because you're in Jesus!).
You don't have to think about it much and I can see you're uncomfortable with the whole idea so I won't keep bugging you. Maybe when you have your own kids one day you'll see what I mean, sometimes I just like giving them stuff, stuff they don't even need. Sometimes I decide not to give them something they want, but I always love them. And I would never deprive my children of good things if I had it in my power to give to them.
I would've typed an original comment here, but so many of my thoughts are summed up on Bino's blog post.
:(
Forgive me..............
I don't think Joseph Prince is preaching a prosperity Gospel, he himself would say so. He is preaching the Gospel, he has just had deep revelations of what that really entails. SOZO. The WHOLE person, from the inside out!!!
Do you not believe God is good? That He cares about our spiritual life, but also cares practically for us while we are on this earth, in these mortal bodies?
He is good, not just in the sense that we have a whole new identity in Him, Him in us, but His life is going to have an effect on our entire being!!
Did Jesus not heal all those He encountered? Did He not provide in abundance, fish and loaves, overflowing nets of fish, all the times in the Old Testament, the first church in Acts, there were no needy among them?
It is not a bad thing at all to include all the benefits of the Cross. It is not wrong to teach on these areas as well. Prosperity, health and righteousness are God's idea and man has gone and skewed those good gifts of His...........
Anyway, I do love you Matt, I just wonder what the hect has gotten into everyone lately with all this concern over the goodness of God as seen in His provision, prosperity, wealth, healing (did God not make Abraham, the father of faith very rich? do you see Abraham as scandalous because he received the blessing from God?) and His desire to restore and make us whole..........relax, chill out, don't throw the baby out with the bath water. God is GOOD!! He wants us to see it in all of life. Let Him be good to you!!! In every area of your life, NOW......not later! He is the I AM, the God of today...............
In peace and love!!!
Hey guys,
I'm not totally against the fact that God provides me with everything I need. I also believes he blesses us with things we don't need. But to say that God will get me that Lamborghini I've been wanting or that I will be rich is something I can't stomach myself.
I am more than ok with you if you disagree with me on this. So don't be afraid of offending me lol.
"Not totally against the fact that God provides".........so are you partly against it? Just checkin'.......
I am not afraid of offending you, because I know you have a BIG heart, it's just that my Daddy (and your Daddy) is way better and way more generous than any of us can even fathom!! Much love......
