Hangin' Out With Arjay Dubya

Woo!

It was so good to be with Ryan, Jamie and their two kids. I'm very timmid and I don't show a lot of emotion, but it's there. I can't wait to see them again in March for the conference in Atlanta! Yay!

It snowed while I was there, which is a rarity for us ol' country folks down here. It was great...But I prefer to step back and admire the scenery rather than play in it.

But I am amazed at how loving, generous and kind Ryan and Jamie are every time I am with them. I'm not saying that for the sake of being nice either. I can probably be a hassle because it isn't my nature to make myself at home in someone's home, so I tend to wait for people to hand me food. I just feel akward opening someone else's refridgerator and things like that. I'm a little uptight, but they always make my stay very comfortable and relaxed. Ryan is always so generous as to pay for all my food and drink.

I don't realize how much I love them and miss them until they're pulling out of the drive way, waving goodbye. It's then that my eyes well up with tears and I realize what a wonderful family in Christ that I have.

The most fun I had though was playing a game called catch phrase with Ryan, Jamie, their two children and Jamie's sister, Terri. We played for a few hours and it was absolutely hilarious!

The ride home was great since Terri rode along with us. We all discussed God's grace, life, and other things. It was great and made the trip seem a lot shorter. You would have to see Terri to believe her. She is wonderful!!

It was a great time just to relax and be loved on by brothers and sisters in Christ.

I miss you all and can't wait to see you again in March. Thank you, Ryan and Jamie, for everything.

Matthew
As always, we loved hangin' out with you. You are a special guy and we think the world of you. The pleasure is ours.
Ryan
p.s. It's especially cool that we {I} get to introduce you to things that culturally enrich you, such as Hogan's Heroes and The Pink Panther {...does your dog bite?}

Oh sweet Matthew ~ my eyes are welling up with tears! You are so so so precious and so so so dear! I am so grateful for your bond with Ryan and Jamie, and for how you feel loved and safe with them. Isn't Jesus lovin' you good through them!!!!

I can't wait to hear about all of you meeting Joel in March for the conference, how exciting!

Haha! Ryan, we watched the Pink Panther over the weekend! It was the more recent one with Steve Martin, so it wasn't really like watching the original, but it gave me the opportunity to answer such questions from my kids as "what's the Pink Panther?" And "Is the diamond pink then?" :) But there's nothing like the original Peter Sellers movies... They really bring back memories for me.

I used to watch Hogans Heroes too. Great stuff that you're introducing to Matthew!

Sounds great, Matthew!

I don't know if this is appropriate to ask, but I will ask anyways :)

What/who is 'Arjay Dubya'? I am sorry if I am being ignorant!

Arjay Dubya is RJW said with a redneck accent. It took me a minute to figure out what Joel was talking about too lol. So it's, Arjay (RJ) Dubya (W).

Thanks, Mathew! :)

Believe it or not, I did a google search for it before I asked you and it came back this post! I am glad I didn't look for it in the dictionary... :)

It's funny what you say about not so easily making yourself at home re: food etc. . . Many years ago now (ok, just nine years ago - i was 25) my husband and were living in a vw van in a church parking lot. We got invited to park at this LARGE (in number not in size) family's house. As they had 9 kids aged 2 to 20 and various other people from all walks of life living at their house i had to learn to push past my canadian reserve and help myself to whatever food or coffee they had in their house. Food would just appear in their kitchen and it was a sort of organized free for all. It was there that I lost that restraint. . . But now I have the opposite problem. I now find myself just opening up some new aquaintances fridge and helping myself without thinking what it may come across as. So, be forewarned. You might find yourself doing the opposite in 9 years without realizing why people are staring at you so oddly. . . :)
