Which is it?

"If you're afraid of me, you will keep my commandments".

"If you try hard enough, you will keep my commandments".

"If you love me, you will keep my commandments".

Wait a minute, according to Joel the answer is always B. :)

I guess that, at one time or another, I have tried all three. "If you love me" has also been used as a hammer to get people to "try hard" to keep God's commandments. If you don't, then be very afraid. It seems like the favorite commandments of those that wield that hammer is the tithe and the great commission (brings in more people to tithe...how's that for cynical?).

But what commandments will our love lead us to keep, to believe in God's son and to love one another. (1 John 3:23)

Luv ya, Brother

Doh! I'm way behind and just now getting caught up on blogs and stuff.... but Gary stole my thunder... LOL :) When I read this in my feed reader I was going to come here and ask which answer is "B," because I like it when the answer is "B." hehehe...

But yeah, great post!
