Vance Havner

"There are people who spend their days in a perpetual clinic, with themselves as both doctor and patient. The devil has a lot of fun with sensitive, conscientious souls given to introspection. He makes them connoisseurs of moods, specialists in self-examination, and much given to examining their sincerity. They worry because they do not pray enough, read the Bible enough, testify enough, rejoice enough. But very often people who are so troubled will not find relief by increasing their performance and stepping up the quantity of prayers turned out or chapters read. Very likely they will be whipping up jaded nerves already exhausted, and will merely increase their load."

Matthew,
Hello! I found your Blog page off of Aida Carter's Blog-Forgetting the Former Things. I've recently become a commentor on The God Journey Forum (www.thegodjourney.com) as well as Darin Hufford's Free Believers forum (www.darinhufford.com).

Vance's words here ring so true. As well, the Blog entry below with Sinead O'Connor's music...I love her heart. She is one of (few) singers who express both lyrically, and with her heart true Love of the Father. I love remake of the song "Sacrifice."

I look forward to reading more of your posts here on your page.

Hey, Amy.

I love Sinead's music too. She sings from her heart. I love Emperor's New Clothes and No Man's Woman.

Glad you enjoyed my blog! It's great to meet new brothers and sisters who know the grace of God in truth.

Hey Jordan,

Yeah, I grabbed this from Grace Walk today actually. I loved it.

Matt,
Thanks for letting me know about Emperor's New Clothes and No Man's Woman. Haven't heard of them before, and I'm going to look into them. I also recently discovered Josh Garrels.

Anyways, I re-read this blog too. I've recently discovered that I am a "people-loving" introvert (funny how we come to "realize" such personality niche's we fit in after some time living, eh? Ha!) When I was all wrapped up in Religion/Law's grasp, I definitely fell into what your blog described. By God's awesome Love, it's been so wonderful to see how he's been (and continues to...it's a lifelong process) strengthening me by leaps and bounds into living with healthy confidence, strength and freedom. It's due to stepping outside the confounding binds of such systems and into walking along my personal God Journey with the Spirit. It's just as wonderful to hear (thru blogs, comments, stories) of fellow bros and sis's experiencing the same!
